Midnight Bloom is reminiscent of my neons on black era. 10 years ago I was mainly painting women and animals in black and neon, I just love what the combination does. Ive never had a favorite colour, more favorite colour combinations. A colour on its own for me doesn’t give me any feels yet certain colour combinations take my breath away and fill me with dopamine. Ok maybe green can do that alone.
Of recent years I’ve painted florals, moved to abstract and really focused on colour. My dad was an illustration’s lecturer who specialized in realistic water colours and in his earlier days surrealism. I’m not sure if I’m honoring that in my own way or rebelling against it. Either way, I can feel I’m becoming him when I stay up at night painting.
I remember the moment that this became one of my favourite ever works, it had something to do with the splash of spearmint, hot pink and the transparent whites that felt ethereal.

Art is a really personal purchase. I can’t express the feelings of gratitude I get when someone likes it enough to purchase it.
